Truecaller is stealing user data, selling millions

Truecaller is a well known app and you might even be using it. According to a report, Truecaller's user data is being sold on the Dark Web. This data includes the user name, email address and phone numbers. The report says that the True Collar Jetta has been leaked worldwide.

This report is in reference to a cyber security expert that ET has previously reported. What this cyber expert does is look into this kind of transaction running in the dark web. The report told them that about 60-70 percent of Truecaller's Indian user base is being sold. Let us tell you that Truecaller's users here are 140 million.

The security research says that users' data is being sold on the dark web for around 2000 euros. Global users' data is being sold for $ 25,000.

Some users are tampering with their own account. In this way the company can confirm that no sensitive user information has been excluded, especially the payment and financial information of the users.

However, even after the company's claim, CyberExpert believes that such a large-scale data can be collected by breaching the True Caller's database. This is because this is not the first time the True Caller's data base is being stolen. Data has been stolen before this too.
